A "Gardening for Wildlife" workshop will be held at the Environmental Discovery Center on Saturday, May 2 from 10:00-11:00 AM. The presentation will focus on the certification process needed to have a yard recognized as a Certified Wildlife Habitat through the National Wildlife Federation. Originally known as the Backyard Wildlife Habitat program, it began in 1973 in response to an article written by the National Wildlife Federation that encouraged people to landscape and garden in a more sustainable way.
The Gardening for Wildlife workshop will help you learn how to restore wildlife habitat to your yard, no matter the size. Once you create your habitat, you can submit an application and get your yard certified as one of the thousands of Certified Wildlife Habitat sites across the country and world.
